  1. Soul of a New Machine is distinct from the rest of Fear Factory's discography in that this album is death metal with only a slight industrial undercurrent. Soul of a New Machine plays more like an industrialized Napalm Death CD than the groovy, robotic sci-fi industrial .
  2. Fear Factory ~ Soul Of A New Machine Go Unlimited In particular, I feel like "Martyr", "Scapegoat", and "Scumgrief" are the strongest ones here, but there are several other good tracks here as well. If you want to hear a more polished effort from the band, check out Demanufacture, which has more focused production quality and feels like an /5(75).
  3. StainedGlassAssassin Feb 01 After the release of “Soul of a New Machine”, Fear Factory would put out “Fear is the Mindkiller”, an EP containing three songs from their debut album, but with a twist. The songs were essentially deconstructed, remixed, (“Self Immolation” multiple times) and add multiple electronic sounds to create a techno version of their former selves.
  4. Combining both metal & industrial elements, Fear Factory laid a groundwork on Soul Of A New Machine & their subsequent remix EP Fear Is The Mindkiller (also included on this expanded remaster). The band paved the way not only for their follow-up albums - ultimately resulting in the Gold-selling Obsolete - but also for a whole new wave of bands such as Filter, Static-X & Stabbing Westward/5(75).
  5. referencing Soul Of A New Machine, CD, Album, RE, RRD This is a really good Fear Factory album. If you don't already own it, it's worth buying. It is closer to straight death metal than the industrial stuff that came later, but the playing is tight and the lyrics are powerful. This is a band that isn't interested in punishing religion, worshipping Satan or singing about Vikings.
  6. Soul of a New Machine ushered in the '90s alternative metal era, even if few realized it at the time. Fear Factory were quite ahead of their time in , the year Roadrunner Records released Soul, their debut album (though not technically their first, which would be the later-unearthed, Ross Robinson -produced Concrete demo album).
